Given the confined range of her palette and the array of forms,
the work is still rich in its variety and complexity. Compare
242 Varet which represents one of the more colorful and starkly
contrasted pieces with A Love Supreme: Pursuance, a far more reductive
piece in terms of color and forms. The former blocks out the background
space in richly composed, solid chunks of metallic golds, green
and black. The white forms seemed scrawled across the surface
like an afterthought but in fact provide a dynamic contrast that
counters the drama of contrast provided by the other forms. The
white lines ride on the surface with similar linear forms more
subtly placed within the black background shape.

All of this conspires to create an interesting
depth of space. A Love Supreme: Pursuance on the other hand, is
more environmental in its treatment of space. The back and mid-ground
forms are buried in a blizzard of grayish-white and the depth of
space is shallower and far more integrated.

Despite such wide-ranging differences both pieces
are clearly part of the same ‘family’ of work but each
is in possession of its own unique personality.
